Secondary Maths Teacher
We are looking for a permanent & full-time Maths teacher to start September 2019.
The school is in Feltham, West London. It is extremly close to Heathrow Airport making travelling to Europe quick and easy. There are good transport links into London, as well as out of London into more rural, countryside areas.

The Mathematics Department
The Mathematics team is fully committed to developing students into independent, critical learners, who solve mathematical problems presented in different disciplines.
We live in a society where maths can seem abstract to many and useful to only some. We aim to develop students confidence in maths; and to teach the students its importance and necessity in our society whether it be shopping at the supermarket and using basic arithmetic or using more subject specific topics such as Pythagoras and trigonometry for careers in architecture or construction.
Key Stage 3
As a core subject, students have maths lessons 4 times a week in years 7 and 8. In Year 7 our focus is on Number and Algebra to ensure that students are confident with the core topics in maths. This allows them in further years to develop assuredly with new material. In Year 8 not only is this then revisited but also students are introduced to the other key areas of focus in secondary maths: Ratio, Shape and Data.
To ensure that students make the progress they are capable of, homework is expected around twice a week, both on paper and online. There is time set aside each week after normal school hours for students to receive any help they need with this. Also outside of school hours is Gifted and Talented club which seeks to stretch those who already attaining highly in maths.
Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4, students study GCSE Mathematics. Some students are also given the opportunity to study GCSE Further Mathematics.
The GCSE qualification in Mathematics encourages students to develop confidence in, and a positive attitude towards, mathematics and to recognise the importance of mathematics in their own lives and to society. This qualification prepares students to make informed decisions about the use of technology, the management of money, further learning opportunities and career choices.
This Course is 100% examination and explores Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measures , Statistics and Probability. Assessment is split into more than one exam paper which will assess both calculator and non-calculator methodology .
Key Stage 5
Sixth formers study the AS and A2 Mathematics course. A selected number of students also study Further Maths AS or A2 at this level. All maths courses are made up of both compulsory and optional units. The core units at AS and A2 maths are compulsory, and are based around pure mathematical content, which includes algebra, geometry, calculus and trigonometry. In further maths, the core content covers a wider range of topics, such as matrices, complex numbers and solving differential equations. The optional units are based on applied strands of mathematics and include Statistics, Mechanics and Decision maths. The combination of units that individuals study is influenced by which qualification they are working towards.
All students are expected to attend afterschool revision and additional sessions with their class teacher to ensure they achieve the best possible grades and cover all modules with a full understanding of the content covered.
